Don Amero and Desiree Dorion Land ISMA Nods
Two Manitoba singer/songwriters have landed nominations for this year's Indian Summer Music Awards (ISMA). Don Amero and Desiree Dorion each earned nods for songs off their latest albums, dominating the country category.
Amero landed two nods in the country category for "Young Forever" and "Turn These Grey Skies Blue" off his latest release, the Juno Award-nominated Heart On My Sleeve. Adding to Amero's list of recent accolades, he is also currently in the running for five Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards and a Western Canadian Music Award.
Dorion's song "Mama Got a Shotgun" off her sophomore album, Small Town Stories, is also nominated in the country category. She's up for an APCMA this year for Best Country CD.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 7, 2013.
The Indian Summer Music Awards are held annually in conjunction with the Indian Summer Festival, the largest Native American festival in North America, which draws close to 70,000 visitors to the Summerfest Grounds on the western shore of Lake Michigan each year.
