MANITOBA ABORIGINAL ARTIST SHOWCASE DURING THE CANADIAN COUNTRY MUSIC WEEK

The Aboriginal Music Program will be hosting a Manitoba Aboriginal Artist Showcase at Academy Food, Drinks & Music on Friday, September 5, 2008 during the Canadian Country Music Week in Winnipeg. The showcase will give three country music bands (three piece or more) and two solo acts the opportunity to perform at least 15-minutes of material.

Showcase details:
DATE: Friday, September 5, 2008
TIME: 11:30 pm – 2 am
LOCATION: Academy Food, Drinks & Music, 437 Stradbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba
FEES: MARIA defines showcases as opportunities for artists to perform for business purposes (book more performances, perform for industry professionals, etc...) and no performance fees will be paid.

The main purpose of this showcase is to help Aboriginal country music bands and solo acts from Manitoba get their music in front of music industry stakeholders, media and Aboriginal community leaders in Winnipeg during the 2008 Canada Country Music Week.  

To be eligible for a showcase spot, you MUST be a MARIA member. Becoming a MARIA member is easy and you can complete the online membership application at www.manitobamusic.com.

If you are interested in showcasing, please submit the following:
• One-page Biography
• 20-word Biography for the showcase marketing piece
• Promotional Photo (printed 8x10 OR digital 300 dpi)
• Two songs on CD for the jury to listen to

Submissions will be rejected if incomplete.
