Call for Hosts: Open Mic Night

Manitoba Music is planning a new round of Open Mic Nights at The Handsome Daughter and submissions are now open for hosts! Each open mic will be hosted by a different Manitoba Music member, who will share some of their own music and welcome the night’s roster of performers. Hosts are offered a small honorarium. This opportunity will have a strong focus on gender diversity and BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ voices. 

To be considered as a host, you must:

  • Be available from 6-9 PM on at least one of the following:
    • Tuesday, March 18, 2025
    • Tuesday, April 15, 2025
    • Tuesday, May 20, 2025
    • Tuesday, June 17, 2025
    • Tuesday, July 15, 2025
    • Tuesday, August 19, 2025
  • Be able to perform up to 10 songs of primarily original or originally arranged music 
  • Be a Manitoba Music member and current resident of Manitoba

Preference will be given to artists who:

  • Are solo performers
  • Have cultivated a local audience and local media coverage
  • Have a track record of strong live performances
  • Have a strong social media presence
  • Have not previously hosted our Open Mic Nights
  • Have an updated Manitoba Music profile 

Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee based on:

  • Music
  • Quality of promotional materials
  • Social media presence
  • Momentum, demonstrated in your bio and recent accomplishments in existing or other projects
