Call for Participants: Manitoba Film & Music Grant Incubator

Deadline: Tuesday, July 23 at 4 PM
Planning to apply for Manitoba Film & Music’s Produce program? We’re running another grant application incubator program via MusicWorks and Indigenous Music for beginner to intermediate artists and industry professionals in Manitoba who are working on a single, EP, or album for commercial release and plan to apply for MFM’s upcoming deadline on September 19, 2024.
Participants will be paired with experienced mentors to guide them through the application process over five weeks with the intention of submitting the application to MFM.
The incubator will cover:
- Identifying and gathering the necessary information to include in their funding application
- Evaluating their plan critically and making appropriate changes to strengthen their submission
- Reviewing examples of successful funding applications to better understand what funders are looking for
- A virtual tour of MFM’s new online funding application portal
This program will focus heavily on the marketing, project plans, appropriate funding levels, and sonic quality of the demo recordings being submitted and will only briefly cover business registration, application forms, and budget.
Participants will be notified by Thursday, July 25 at 4 PM.
To participate in the program, applicants must:
- Be an artist or company working with artists based in Manitoba
- Be a current Manitoba Music member
- Be eligible to apply for MFM programs (see applicant requirements here)
- Have a release timeline and project plan that is relevant to the deadline on Sept 19, 2024
- Schedule and be available for three one-hour mentor sessions either (in-person or virtual) between July 25 - Sept 18
- Be available for a final review meeting with the MFM staff
- Have assessment tracks recorded and ready by the program start date:
- For a commercial single release: one quality, unreleased demo
- For a commercial EP or album release: two quality, unreleased demos
- Watch this MFM info session video to ensure they’re ready and prepared to meet with a mentor
