Job Posting: Indigenous Music Development Coordinator (Term Position)

Manitoba Music is seeking someone to join our team as coordinator of the Indigenous Music Development Program (IMDP) as a maternity leave replacement. Reporting to our Executive Director, this person will work collaboratively with our team to administer, and deliver impactful programs to support First Nation, Metis, and Inuit artists and music companies in Manitoba’s music industry, as well as industry development work at a national level. ABOUT THE POSITION
The Indigenous Music Development Coordinator is someone deeply connected to Indigenous communities in Manitoba and beyond, and excited about the opportunity to amplify the work of Indigenous artists and music companies.
This person is people oriented and community minded. They are self-motivated and independent, collaborative, accountable, adaptable, resourceful, and a well-organized project manager.
They will be able to balance multiple tasks and projects with a commitment to service to the community.
We are looking for someone who likes to learn and share, who loves live music events and getting to know artists, and who is passionate about elevating Indigenous artists.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordination and administration of all logistics for IMDP initiatives, including live music events, video projects, industry showcases, workshops, networking and outreach initiatives
• Marketing of IMDP initiatives and communications with funders, partners, participants, etc.
• Career consultations with artists and companies
• Evaluating programming, compiling results and success stories
• Creating proposals, cost reports, and reporting for funders and partners
• Administration of the program including preparing plans, timelines, budgets, and reports
• Supervising support staff, including interns
• Collaborating with a dedicated team and working within existing program frameworks
EXPERIENCE
The Indigenous Music Development Coordinator will have a minimum of two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: music presentation, music business, event production, grant administration, marketing, communications. Experience and connections in the music industry is an asset. The selected candidate will have great written and spoken communication skills in English, and be comfortable using social media. Experience working in a not-for-profit environment is an asset.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS & BENEFITS
This is a term position for a maternity leave replacement starting April 1, 2021 at 35 hours per week, lasting 9 to 11 months (TBD). National and international travel may be required. The salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
WORKPLACE
Manitoba Music leases space on the main floor of a heritage building in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. Our office is currently closed to the public but available to employees following COVID-19 safety protocols. Staff also work remotely.
