William Prince Wins SOCAN Songwriting Prize
JUNO-winning singer/songwriter William Prince has won the 15th annual English SOCAN Songwriting Prize with his song "The Spark", off his latest release Reliever. The prestigious prize for music creation is determined by public vote and comes with a $5,000 cash prize, a Yamaha keyboard, and a $500 gift card from Long & McQuade.
Prince has garnered significant praise for Reliever since its February release via Glassnote Records, including a spot on the Polaris Music Prize long list, three Western Canadian Music Award nominations, and international media attention.
Other nominees include songs performed by Riit, iskwē, Clairmont The Second, renforshort, Monsune, JP Saxe, LOONY, Wild Rivers, and Haviah Mighty.
