Farewell Alan Greyeyes

Posted on

Some exciting but sad news… Alan Greyeyes will be leaving Manitoba Music at the end of this month to take on a new role at the sākihiwē festival, along with other music industry work.

Alan has been an integral part of our team for 13 years. He started with us in 2005 to help coordinate our Indigenous music development activities and quickly became a major force on the national music scene. Alan’s irrefutable talent and skill at making connections, inspiring and activating, and building relationships has shaped our association and the music communities we serve.

Through his work managing the Indigenous Music Development Program over the years, he has helped many artists develop their careers and craft, access new markets, learn their business, get on stage in front of key players, and connect with their peers to build their own networks and communities. He has helmed projects on a local and national scale, including the long-running Indigenous Music Residency, Market Builder, Indigenous Music Mentors Program, Native American North, Aboriginal Day Live Music Meeting, trade missions to California and Nevada, and many more.

Alan makes things happen and he gets things done. Whether it’s through a project, offering insight in the resource centre, or just being a reliable and kind voice on the other end of the phone, Alan’s guidance has and will continue to make an indelible mark on the music scene. His understanding of the music industry and the challenges and opportunities artists and music companies face has helped our members reach higher and get further in their goals.

Alan has been such an essential member of our team. He challenged us to do better, to strive higher, to be open to new and different ways of thinking, and to measure our work with kindness. His perspective, humour, hard work, dedication, honesty, intuition, drive for excellence, straightforwardness, and insight will be greatly missed.

We wish Alan the very best in his new position and we look forward to seeing all the great work he’s going to do.

We’ve had the time of our lives!
