Summer Communications Intern

Are you interested in getting some behind-the-scenes experience in communications, supporting the local music scene, and building your skills in the business side of music? We’re looking for a fun, organized, detail-oriented person who is passionate about local music to help us out this summer with things like:

  • Amplifying the local live music scene
  • Going to live music events around Winnipeg
  • Helping out with Manitoba Music’s social media
  • Creating and updating content on our websites
  • Finding out about new music from Manitoba artists and labels
  • Finding new industry and media contacts to help us get the word out
  • Keeping track of media coverage for Manitoba artists and companies

The internship would run May to August, 2017. We’re looking for someone who can committee to the equivalent of two days per week, flexible schedule (during business hours weekdays, 10-4PM). The successful applicant will be offered an honorarium, membership with Manitoba Music, and free admission to Manitoba Music professional development events for one year.

We need someone who:

  • Loves live music and going to shows
  • Knows how to take a good picture
  • Has great written and spoken communication skills in English (French helps, too)
  • Is comfortable with social media, especially Instagram
  • Has a fondness for spreadsheets and/or organizing things
  • Likes meeting a wide variety of people
  • Isn’t afraid of constructive feedback
  • Maybe has experience with Photoshop and video editing (this would be awesome, but not required)

Indigenous Music Development Program Intern

Are you interested in getting some behind-the-scenes experience in marketing and communications, celebrating the work of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis artists, and building your skills in the business side of music? We’re looking for a fun, organized, detail-oriented person who is passionate about music to help us out this summer with things like:

  • Helping with logistics on our Aboriginal Day Live activities and other events
  • Helping us launch a new look and name
  • Going to live music events around Winnipeg
  • Helping out with social media
  • Creating and updating content on our website
  • Finding out about new music from Indigenous artists
  • Doing some general office work, like filing, paperwork, researching, and updating lists
