Country singer Jerry Sereda was named as one of six Aboriginal artists who will have a music video made through the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network’s (APTN) First Tracks program this year. The announcement was made May 19 by the television network, which has been running this program since 2008.

Sereda is gaining momentum this year. He released an EP entitled Campground Cowboy last June and recently gained the support of Contact Artist Management. Sereda has plans to release a full album in 2010.

AMP Camp alumni Shy-Anne Hovorka and Kristi Lane Sinclair were also named as recipients for 2010. Hovorka earned ten nominations for her debut album, entitled Black Thunderbird and is releasing her second CD this year. Sinclair is currently promoting her first release, entitled I Love You.

APTN’s First Tracks program has produced 15 music videos for Aboriginal artists from across Canada to date. Manitoba artist Sadie received support for her “Boomboxx” single in 2009. Shane Yellowbird, Lucie Idlout, George Leach, Ry Moran, Digging Roots, Kinnie Starr, Leela Gilday, Samian, and Andrea Menard are among the past recipients.
