AMP Camp 2007 Applications Now Available

MARIA's Aboriginal Music Program is now accepting completed applications forms for AMP Camp 2007, which will be held from February 11-16, 2007.

This one-week residency, presented by the Canada Council for the Arts and MARIA, gives emerging to mid-career Aboriginal recording artists a chance to develop their understanding of the music industry along with their ability to succeed in it. The 30 participants of AMP Camp will be engaged by a faculty of industry professionals in workshops and discussions about songwriting, breaking into the festival circuit, music marketing, business information for recording artists, performance skills and other subjects.

AMP Camp has 15 spots for Aboriginal recording artists from Manitoba and 15 for participants from the rest of Canada. The application deadline for AMP Camp is October 27, 2006 and a registration fee of $250 for all successful applicants is due December 15, 2006.

The first AMP Camp was held in Gimli, Manitoba, from March 19-14, 2006. Faculty members included Heather Bishop, Billie Joe Green, Kinnie Starr, Marty Ballentyne, Vince Fontaine, Gerry Atwell, Sandy Scofield and Doug Cox.
