Manito Ahbee Festival: Manitoba Showcase Participants

Posted on

Highway 373, Yoza, and Venus Mantrap are among the 16 Aboriginal recording artists who will participate in the Manitoba Aboriginal Music Showcase at the MTS Centre on November 4 & 5 during the Manito Ahbee Festival this year.  Each act was subject to a submission process, which required them to submit 2 songs on CD, music related biographies and promotional photos.

The Aboriginal Music Program received 30 strong submissions for this showcase and was convinced by the jury to increase the number of showcase spots from 11 to 16. To facilitate this increase, the showcase was extended from one day during the Manito Ahbee Festival to two days.

The showcase participants range in age, experience and genre with three acts representing northern communities.  The participants are:

South Thunderbird
Venus Mantrap
Dead Indians
Rayne
Ryan D’Aoust
Gerry McIvor
JC Campbell
Dominique Reynolds
Don Amero
Sierra Noble
C-Weed Band
Charlie McIvor
Kimberley Dawn
Yoza
Myles Palmquist
Highway 373

The showcase will be promoted to stakeholders in the local music industry and the five artistic directors from the United States who will be participating in the Manito Ahbee Talent Buyer Program.  Festival-goers will also be able to take in the 15 minute performances at the John Labatt Lounge in the MTS Centre.
