The RAS Report - March 2012
Hi again! Since the last time we connected with you, an early spring descended upon us here in Winnipeg. Which means we officially just had the BEST. WINTER. EVER!
Here at RAS Creative, we’re also happy to say we have the BEST. CLIENTS. EVER! Have a read below to see what they’re up to…
On the heels of 20 European shows, Australia’s roots/blues artist Toby is returning to Canada for her Spring Has Sprung Tour. April will mark her ninth visit to Canada, where she’ll perform ten shows in BC and Alberta – including Canmore (April 7) and Calgary (April 9). She’s also posted a great series of music videos on youtube – all for the same song! She performs the new song Don’t Go with her Dutch band in a studio… on a stage… outside… in a boat… in ‘the loo’… in a playpen… fun stuff! www.tobymusic.com.au
The award-winning television series X-Weighted, known for portraying inspirational stories of individuals and families transforming their lives through healthy eating, mental fitness, and exercise, is launching the ground breaking initiative X-Weighted Connect across Canada. The tour comes to Winnipeg on April 14, and features a day full of workshops, tools and motivation. www.xweighted.ca
16th annual Vision Quest Conference & Trade Show takes place May 15 to 17 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Vision Quest brings together innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders to discuss and promote Aboriginal business, community and economic development. The expanded trade show will feature more than 100 exhibitors, and is free to the public. Keynote speakers are former Olympian Waneek Horn-Miller, and award-winning actor and artist Eric Schweig. Register before April 9 and save $75 on delegate pass. www.vqconference.com
This weekend, Don Amero is taking in the sights of Churchill (hopefully the northern lights will be out!?) while playing their Aurora Winter Festival. He’ll also be doing workshops and performances for students at Duke of Marlborough School. Next month, he’s traveling to PEI to play at The Dunk and other venues during ECMA music week. www.donamero.com
We are expecting a much-earlier-than-usual start to the rowing season this year! You might be able to see those funny little boats out on Winnipeg’s Red River as early as April 2 – no fooling! Sign up for a learn-to-row session, and try the BEST. SPORT. EVER! The Winnipeg Rowing Club is now taking registrations online, and space fills up quickly. So don’t wait too long. www.winnipegrowingclub.ca
Located in the border region of Manitoba and Nunavut, Nueltin Lake Lodge offers a Canadian fishing adventure like no other. They are gearing up for another great fishing season, with promising forecasts and water levels. It’s looking like a good year to go after your trophy fish! www.nueltin.com
