Here we are at the end of April, and the start of a brand new rowing season! In case you didn’t know… the sport of rowing has become my passion in recent years. We’re always looking for new ‘recruits’ to try it out, so if you think you might be interested in finding out more, let me know and I’ll send you some info. And in the meantime, here is the latest RAS Report – because work does go on, even during rowing season… J

The 14th annual Vision Quest Conference takes place May 18 to 20 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. The event brings together innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders to discuss and promote Aboriginal business, community and economic development. The Trade Show features 80+ Exhibitors and is open to the public with FREE ADMISSION.

Some events ask you to walk, while some expect you run. This one encourages you to get on your motorcycle and ride… Join the Manitoba motorcycling community at their 9th Annual Breast Cancer Pledge Ride on Sunday, June 6 – rain or shine! Motorcycle around Manitoba for a good cause, with the chance to win cash and other great prizes. Live music and free henna tattoos.

The 2010 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards take place in Winnipeg November 4 and 5. They recently announced their call for submissions, with entries wanted from across Canada. The deadline for submissions is June 30, and the official entry form is available online at the APCMA website.

The television series Cashing In just launched a brand new website. Now you can find out more about the series online.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada cut the ribbon at their official head office in Winnipeg on Thursday, April 8. For more information about what they do, check out their website.

Did I mention rowing?? The Winnipeg Rowing Club is having an OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, May 15 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Come down to 20 Lyndale Drive to find out more about rowing, the rowing club (they offer gym memberships, too!) and learn-to-row sessions for all ages. Make this the summer you fall in love with the sport of rowing! Or just come and join the gym… you could do that too…

We recently reported a new online home for RoseAnna Schick's freelance writing. Visit for stories about travel, healthy living, and learning to play hockey at the ripe old age of… old… Sign up for travel tweets on Twitter.

RoseAnna traveled to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to deliver two workshops at the Riverland Tourism Conference last week. Then it was on to beautiful Detroit Lakes for a little rest and relaxation, and research for future travel writing. Special thanks to the Lodge On Lake Detroit for the excellent hospitality.

To better organize your office, we recommend the ‘once across the desk’ theory. Instead of allowing stacks of paper to pile up on your desk, in the ideal world, the idea is to deal with every piece of paper as soon as it lands on your desk. However, in the real world, we all know it’s simply not possible to deal with EVERY piece of paper as SOON as it lands on your desk. So we have a new idea guaranteed to keep your desk clean.

The key is to place various boxes UNDER your desk, with labels like ‘look at this stuff later’ or ‘review this pile someday’ or even ‘make time for this box as soon as I have time’. Doing this will ensure your desk always remains clean, orderly, and ready for more stuff…

Have a good one!
