Hello again, and Happy New Year! It’s still January, so I can still say that…

As John Lennon sang in Happy Christmas, “another year over, and a new one just begun…” Each new year holds so much in store, and offers so much hope and potential. Here’s wishing you all a productive and prosperous 2010 – with plenty of fun and adventure along the way!

At RAS Creative we’re off to a busy start in 2010 – and so are many of our clients. We’re happy to share some of their latest news…

MUSIC

February will see many Manitoba artists heading to Vancouver to perform during the Winter Olympics, as part of the Province of Manitoba’s promotion and celebration. We’re thrilled that Tracy Bone www.myspace.com/tracybone and Eagle & Hawk www.eagleandhawk.com will be there to showcase their unique sounds. Congratulations! The world is waiting…

Despite it being the middle of a Canadian winter, waNda wilsoN is taking the road east in support of her debut album Under Donald. It’s her first tour, and along with drummer Leighanne Perry, the duo is playing cities like Thunder Bay, Toronto and Montreal as they wind their way to Atlantic Canada. www.wandawilson.ca

FILM & TELEVISION

Frantic Films presents… The CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival television series is now showing on Monday nights (9:00pm Winnipeg time). Check out these one-hour stand-up comedy specials taped live last spring, starring some of North America’s best comedic talent. www.franticfilms.com

The Winnipeg-shot High Life is currently playing in movie theatres across Canada. This dark comedic heist stars Timothy Olyphant, Joe Anderson, Rossif Sutherland, and Winnipeg’s own Stephen Eric McIntyre. It also features a rockin’ music soundtrack. Support our industry and go see this flick – you won’t be disappointed! www.highlifethemovie.com

Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story debuts on CBC Television March 28 and 29, 2010. The four-hour mini-series is co-produced by Frantic Films, E1 Entertainment, and 5 for Fighting. It stars Jared Keeso as Don Cherry and Sarah Manninen as Rose Cherry. www.franticfilms.com

FESTIVALS & EVENTS

No two words conjure up the notion of ‘celebration’ better than Mardi Gras. Unmask your senses to the sights, sounds and tastes of Winnipeg Mardi Gras at the Winnipeg Convention Centre on February 12 and 13, in support of a number of participating charities. Featuring live music from Louisiana’s own Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters. www.winnipegmardigras.com

ACTIVE LIVING

Two athletes from the Winnipeg Rowing Club were named co-recipients of the Peter Nykoluk Rowing Scholarship. Congratulations to Nia Perron and Natasha Tersigni. Both are University of Winnipeg students, and competitive rowers who represent Manitoba at various regattas. They parallel the determination, commitment and sportsmanship displayed by Peter Nykoluk during his life. www.winnipegrowingclub.ca

PROCRASTINATION TIP-OF-THE-MONTH!

You know how sometimes when you wake up in the morning, you see all those unpaid bills, unanswered emails, dirty dishes in the sink, laundry on the floor, and other stuff you’ve put off? You see all of it just sitting there? Staring at you? Reminding you of all the things you need to do?? Well, here’s what you can do to put that feeling to rest immediately: move! That’s right, move. Get a new place, on a new street, even in a new city. Leave all of those piles of things behind, every last one. Don’t take anything with you. Start all over again, all fresh, all new. After all, it’s a new year, so what better time?? Important note: make sure you don’t leave a forwarding address, or you’ll wind up with all those same bills at your new place...

Have a good one!
