Beginning with his early contributions to Winnipeg's metal scene, Hoopaloop has spent the past decade and a half capturing - and creating - the type of grimy sounds that have put his frozen prairie hometown on the map. In 2013, Hoopaloop opened Trendkill Productions, offering his engineering expertise, as well as a rehearsal space, to musicians of all genres.Trendkill opened up opportunities for to work with notable artists like Evil Ebenezer, Ishq Bector, Manny Phesto, Vmax, Substantial, Junk - and on the local front, Polaris Prize-nominated Winnipeg crew Super Duty Tough Work. Since he discovered an affinity for making beats, Hoopaloop has entrenched himself in the city's hip-hop scene, creating boom-bap soundscapes by deftly blending samples with live instrumentation. Notably, Hoopaloop has formed a thriving creative partnership with local rapper Kairo, producing evocative backdrops that mesh perfectly with the conscious MC's densely lyrical, politically and spiritually-driven style of rhyming. Hoopaloop is active in the studio and at live shows and festivals at home in Manitoba, across Canada, and internationally.
