Desiree Dorion

Country Indigenous Singer/songwriter

Desiree Dorion

About

Desiree Dorion grew up a mile and a half from the grounds of Dauphin Country Fest, one of the biggest outdoor music festivals in Canada.  As a little girl she would ride her bike there when the festival wasn’t on, climb up on the stage, and pretend to play to the thousands of fans that come to watch big country music acts. In 2014 her dream of playing the mainstage came true when she shared the stage with The Band Perry.

The JUNO Nominee has had five songs chart in the top 100 on the Canadian country music charts (TRAX), along with several reach the top spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown. Her songwriting partner on her most recent single, “Wouldn’t That Be Fun,” is one-half of Doc Walker, Dave Wasyliw.

Desiree’s previous release, “Sometimes I Drink,” was co-written with JUNO Award winner, Crystal Shawanda at her home in Nashville and produced by Chris Burke-Gaffney. It reached #12 on the country iTunes charts in its first week of release, stayed in the top 100 on the Canadian country music charts (TRAX) for 16 weeks and reached the #1 spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown.

Desiree is a proud member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation. In June, 2021, she hosted the Achimotak series with the Canadian Country Music Association and is an artist ambassador with the Downie Wenjack Foundation.

Desiree has toured from coast to coast in Canada as well as performed in Las Vegas and Nashville.
