SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 12PM, Monday, February 12, 2018

Manitoba Music and the Creative Manitoba have teamed up for the 2018 edition of the Careers in the Arts youth mentorship program in music management. Aimed at young people interested in careers in the music industry, the four-month program provides a select group of youth ages 16-19 with a chance to expand their knowledge of the industry and develop their own music business skills. Students participate in a series of workshops facilitated by local industry professionals covering different aspects of the music business, from touring to releasing albums to marketing and publicity.

The workshops help to develop the students’ practical skills, put to the test with a multi-genre playlist and live concert. Coordinated, marketed, and promoted by the students themselves, the digital project will feature tracks from young Manitoban artists. It will be distributed to music industry professionals, music journalists, and local music fans. The live concert will feature a handful of artists from the sampler, with the students organizing all aspects of the event.

The project is now accepting submissions from young Manitoba bands and solo artists. Several artists will also be selected to perform at the compilation release concert the first week of May.

Applicants considered for this opportunity must:
