Manitoba singer/songwriter Tracy Bone has earned some new hardware, bringing home a Native American Music Award (NAMA) on November 14 for Best Country Recording. This is just the latest accolade for Bone, who was also nominated for Best Female Artist at the NAMA. She has already won a West Coast American Indian Award and Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award for her latest recording, Woman Of Red, as well as a Western Canadian Music Award nomination.

This is the second year in a row that a Manitoba artist has won the top country spot. Ali Fontaine won with her self-titled album at the gala last year.

Three Aboriginal recording acts from Manitoba landed five nominations for this year's NAMA. The 15th annual awards gala took place at the Seneca Allegany Casino in Niagara Falls, New York and will be broadcast in the U.S. on FNX-TV and New York PBS Stations on November 27.

Classical singer Rhonda Head was a double nominee for Best Female Artist and Best Gospel/Inspirational Recording for her second album, Nikumoon. Rock outfit Indian City picked a nod for Best Pop Recording for its sophomore release, Colors, while the group's guitarist performed as part of the house band during the NAMA ceremony.
