Manitoba Music is shining a spotlight on Aboriginal recording artists this month with the launch of its new video series, AMP Sessions. The videos, released through Manitoba Music's Aboriginal Music Program, feature performances by four acclaimed acts from Winnipeg, Dauphin, and Little Saskatchewan.

Filmed between the cedar walls of Winnipeg's renowned Bedside Studios, the series was produced with video director Chris Gaudry, who reunites with many of those who worked on Manitoba Music's Loft Sessions video series, including award-winning sound engineer Cam Loeppky.

AMP Sessions kicks off its initial run on November 12 with award-winning singer/songwriter and MC, Leonard Sumner, who recently brought home an Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award for Best New Artist and the Winnipeg Arts Council's On the Rise Award.

In coming weeks, the series will also feature 2014 JUNO Award nominated country chanteuse Desiree Dorion, 2014 Western Canadian Music Award-nominated singer/songwriter Cassidy Mann, and up-and-coming new wave punk outfit Rescued by Dragonflyz.

Video content has become a vital component of an artist's professional package, helping them to connect with presenters and promoters, festivals, and media, and to engage new and existing audiences. AMP Sessions provides a visual showcase to help these artists reach new markets.

The videos will be released on aboriginalmusic.ca every Wednesday.

Manitoba Music's Aboriginal Music Program was launched in 2004 to help First Nation, Inuit, and Métis people in Manitoba develop sustainable careers in music by connecting them with opportunities within Manitoba Music and beyond. Manitoba Music would like to acknowledge the financial support of the Province of Manitoba, Canada Council for the Arts, Manitoba Film & Music, and FACTOR through the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage (Canada Music Fund) and of Canada's Private Radio Broadcasters.
