Manitoba Film & Music Programs Manager, Barbara Sedun Returns to EMI Publishing in Toronto

It’s with regret that MANITOBA FILM & MUSIC announces the resignation of Barbara Sedun as Manager, Music Programs. Barbara’s last day with MANITOBA FILM & MUSIC will be September 20, 2009. Since Barbara joined the MFM staff from Toronto in December 2007, she has lent support and shared her two decades of experience in the music industry with many Manitoba musicians. While employed at MANITOBA FILM & MUSIC, Barbara was involved in Manitoba’s music scene as a Board member for Manitoba Music and the Western Canadian Music Awards.

It is with warmest personal regards that we wish Barbara every success as she returns to Toronto, where she will assume her new position as head of the EMI Music Publishing Canadian office.

MANITOBA FILM & MUSIC CEO, Carole Vivier expressed, “While Barbara brought a broad national scope to the position it’s her absolute love of music and discovering and mentoring creative talent that will always stand out in my mind.  Barbara left EMI Publishing to work at MANITOBA FILM & MUSIC and now it is EMI Publishing that she is going back to as Head of EMI Publishing's Canadian office. Canada is blessed to have someone so passionate and committed to developing talent in the Canadian music industry”.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at MANITOBA FILM & MUSIC, partly because I believe the role the organization plays in both the music and film industries is necessary to encourage growth in those fields, but also because it has allowed me to view how industrious the Manitoba music makers are without the daily presence of the music industry hub. My door will always be open to the musicians I met while living in Manitoba. In fact, my last signing before I left EMI Music Publishing was Winnipeg-based writer/producer Phil Deschambault and I am looking forward to working with him upon my return to the company”, said Sedun.

A replacement has not yet been named.
